Janice D. Leacock-Bennett :: St. Joseph's University, New York Planned Giving

Mrs. Janice D. Leacock-Bennett graduated from St. Joseph's University, New York’s Brooklyn Campus in 2021 with an MBA in health care management. She is currently the vice president of clinical assessments and utilization management at a New York based home and community health care organization. Recently, Janice decided to use the free estate-planning tool St. Joseph's University, New York offers to alumni, faculty, and staff.

Having spent her career in the health care field, Janice has seen the impact on families when a loved one passes without an estate plan. These challenges truly hit home when her father recently passed without a will. Janice noted, “I saw families struggling with issues that arise when a loved one has no plan available to help them make decisions during what is already a difficult time. I experienced it myself with my father’s estate and decided I wanted to make sure my family didn’t face the same challenges.”

FreeWill is a no-charge, online tool for creating wills, revocable living trusts, advance health care directives, and durable financial powers of attorney. The tools provided take about 20 minutes to complete and can be used as stand-alone documents or as a framework for discussing your wishes with an estate attorney. “FreeWill was very quick and easy to use,” Janice told us. “The prompts made the process very straightforward.”
